Kishor A. Chaukar, Chairman
Mr. Kishor A. Chaukar, currently the Managing Director of Tata Industries Limited (TIL), is a post-graduate in Management from the Indian Institute of Management at Ahmedabad. In his capacity as Managing Director of TIL, Mr. Chaukar is responsible for enhancing the value and the interest of TlL in TIL divisions and in companies where TIL has made investments and/or has sponsored. One of the tasks performed in the quest for this value enhancement is to provide strategic direction to these companies.
Mr. Chaukar is a member of the Group Corporate Centre, which is engaged in strategy formulation at the House of Tata. He is on the Board of various companies like Tata Teleservices Limited, Tata Communications Limited, Tata Autocomp Systems Limited, Tata Investment Corporation Limited, among others. He also oversees the functions of the Department of Economics & Statistics (DES).
Mr. Chaukar is the Chairman of Tata Council for Community Initiatives (TCCI), a Board member of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an international organization founded by the United Nations and is also a member of the Social Accountability International (SAI) Advisory Board, based in New York.
Mr. Chaukar was previously the Managing Director of ICICI Securities & Finance Company Limited (July 1993 to October 1998), and a member of the Board of Directors of ICICI Limited from February 9, 1995 to October 15, 1998). His other experiences include stints in Bhartiya Agro Industries Foundation, a Public Trust engaged in rural development and Godrej Soaps Limited.
Arunkumar Gandhi
Arunkumar Ramanlal Gandhi is a director of Tata Sons and a member of the Group Corporate Centre. He joined Tata Sons as executive director in August 2003 and continued in that position till August 2008. Mr Gandhi has been assisting Tata companies in acquiring diverse assets and companies across the globe. This has enabled Tata companies to acquire critical assets and resources, and gain access to world-class R&D facilities.
In the course of his professional career, Mr Gandhi has worked on numerous mergers and acquisitions, both cross-border and domestic.
Mr Gandhi has been a member of various committees constituted by industry forums and regulatory bodies such as the Securities and Exchange Board of India's (SEBI) takeover panel exemption committee and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’s accounting standards board.
Srinath Narasimhan
Srinath Narasimhan is the Managing Director and CEO of Tata Communications (formerly VSNL). He has over 20 years experience within the Tata Group, having held various positions in project management, sales and marketing, as well as significant corporate functions in several Tata companies. Mr. Srinath previously served as Executive Assistant to the Chairman for Tata Industries, a position he held until 1992. In 1998, Mr. Srinath returned to Tata Industries as General Manager, Projects and worked with Tata Teleservices in this capacity for a year. In 1999, he moved to Hyderabad as Chief Operating Officer responsible for all the operations of Tata Teleservices. In late 2000, Mr. Srinath took over as Chief Executive Officer of Tata Internet Services, a position he held until February 2002, when he moved to VSNL as Director (Operations). He subsequently became Executive Director for VSNL.
Mr. Srinath holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata, specializing in marketing and systems.
N. Chandrasekaran
N. Chandrasekaran (Chandra) is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). He took over as CEO on October 6, 2009. Prior to this position, he was Chief Operating Office and Executive Director. As COO, Chandra was responsible for formulating and executing the company's global strategy. Chandra has been at helm of several key strategic transitions in TCS including expanding its business portfolio to include BPO, Infrastructure and Consulting services. Under his leadership, TCS pioneered the creation of its unique Global Network Delivery Model (GNDM™) and ventured into new markets including Europe, China and Latin America.
Chandra completed his Masters Degree in Computer Applications from the Regional Engineering College -Trichy, in Tamil Nadu, India in 1986 after obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from the Coimbatore Institute of Technology. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and an active member of Computer Society of India and the British Computer Society. He is also a regular contributor to conferences and seminars on Information Technology around the world. In April 2006, he was named by Consulting Magazine in the USA as one of the top 25 most influential consultants in the world.
Well known for his passion for clients, Chandra is the executive sponsor for a number of TCS’ large customer relationships and alliances.
Ramanathan Ramanan
Ramanathan Ramanan is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CMC. Mr. Ramanan is also a director of the US-based CMC Americas, a wholly owned subsidiary of CMC. Prior to joining CMC, Mr. Ramanan was with the company's strategic partner, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where he had a long and distinguished stint.
He has been associated most closely with TCS's telecom and networking practices in the US, the UK and Europe. He was a core member of the team that developed the outstanding local area network product, Falcon, an effort for which he received an award from the Computer Society of India in 1986.
Mr. Ramanan, who has a bachelors' degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, is a member of the Computer Society of India, the IEEE Computer Society, USA, and IEEE Communications, USA. He has been a keynote speaker at seminars on data communications in Switzerland, Geneva, France, the UK and India, and has written many papers on communications and networking for major international conferences.
M. N. (Nagu) Rao, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Rao started his career with Standard Chartered Bank and later worked in Pharmacia , Pennar and the Manipal Group. Before joining the Tata Group(July 2005), Mr. Rao was the Managing Director & CEO of Siemens Shared Services a shared services and BPO Company in Bangalore (May 2000 / June 2005). Prior to that, he was the Executive Vice President (Finance) of Siemens India in Mumbai (Feb 1998 - May 2000).
He was involved in start ups as well as in mature businesses, and has particularly made a mark in turnarounds and in successfully launching new businesses.
He has a ‘B.E.’ from Osmania University in Electrical Engineering, Hyderabad, and a Masters in Management from McGill University, Montreal.
Mr. Rao has an abiding interest in CSR and sustainability issues.
